That I can agree with. I think Tormented weapons should be in there since they're so hard to get (under resonable conditions)

Personally, I'd like it if we could add green items to the valor monument. They're rare, although everybody has the same chances of getting them; plus they're just as unique as the weapons we can currently add to the monument.

What about me? I have some lovely golds, but I'd never go after Tormented or Destroyer, because they're just not "me". And I never use greens, because they don't feel like "mine", either.

My solution would to create a crafter that can duplicate any weapon skin you have to a Monument version. It would likely be expensive, only work with green or gold, max damage weapons and the original weapon would either be disposed of, or customized in the process.

Anything less and I just don't see the point. It's like we're being set a list of targets, that don't necessarily have any connection to our characters, and will lead to us all having the same HoM (if we can even be bothered).

Cut forward to GW2... "here's my ranger.. look at him standing proudly, with the bow he never used... yes, he got the sword too, not sure why... oh, and there's that prestige pet he capped... yes, he gave it away soon after... I think there's a box of unusable minis around here somewhere..."

the HoM is exactly that. a collectors checklist for GW2.
But you need to remember that there are _no_ item transfers between gw1 and gw2.
Go ahead and collect those destroyer weapons. You dont need to use them in Gw1 & and you wont use them in 2. But if you did collect them, you MAY receive a bonus item of some sort in GW2.

One possible suggestion...

Make the Destroyer weapons more unique, mod wise.
Limit them to pve only and give them some special bonus, some will complain about this but since they are craftable, and you can obtain all items required via dungeons its not too out of line.

Possible mods:

Destroyer Sword with +10 armor
Destroyer Axe with +45 HP
Destroyer Staff with +1 attribute, unconditional
Destroyer Shield with +5 energy
Destroyer Bow with +2 BeastMastery
Destroyer Scythe with 20% faster casting of spells(unconditional)
Destroyer Daggers with 20% increased attack speed...

These are just sugestions but you get the idea...

As far as the Valor monument is concerned, ANet announced long before the release of GW:EN that it would display only weapons from GW:EN. Any weapons in the Hall of Monuments will unlock something in GW2, so there are probably very specific unlocks in GW2. Increasing the number of weapons possible in Valor would be nice, but it also slows down development for GW2.

Perhaps they could increase the number of possible GW:EN weapons to unlock a specific GW2 weapon, or maybe the number of possible weapons in Valor will be increased with the release of Hard mode in GW:EN. I find it strange that only Destroyer weapons can be displyed.

HoM is an "unlock" system for GW 2.

It make's sense that 1 billion + 1 billion echo weapon will not be there. Anet want it attenable.

As pointed out, it's a simple "unlock" for gw2, and the "stats" of gw1 will be very different for the gw2 "version" of that weapon.

That being said, I do think they should give some "empty' place holders we can put what we want in with the express knowledge it will not "show" up or count as an unlock in gw2.

What exactly is the point? The HoM is to show your GW1 titles in GW2, nothing else. Or do I misunderstand this? I mean, GW2 will be a totally differend game, probably without level cap and hence much stronger items. The best GW1 items would be only tutorial level stuff in GW2. So what do you expect to unlock that is really usefull?

It's not about unlocking for me, it's just showing my weapons off. I quite like having a place that I can describe my character through their items and achievements.

Basically it's like the wow armory

The HoM will not transfer items between gw and gw2. Putting weapons/armor/titles/minipets/heroes in the HoM will allow your gw2 chars to see your gw1 char's achievements and unlock bonuses in gw2 through those achievements. Anet hasn't said why type of bonuses these will be, but my guess is that since not everyone who will play gw2 will have played gw, they won't be incredibly game changing, probably just something aesthetically pleasing to show off. And how does a higher level cap=stronger items besides maybe a higher req for the item?

I thought that putting any weapon in the HoM would do something. Rather than have an unlock for every weapon I was expecting something more like:

Sword in HoM: Get a fiery glow around your sword's blade
Axe in HoM: Your axe gains a icy glow.
Hammer in HoM: Get a new 'attack' animation whenever you're using a hammer
Staff in HoM: whenever you cast a spell your staff glows
e.t.c.

The armor is also grouped in catagories, so I thought it would be more like:

Ancient armor in your HoM: when you dance skeleton centaurs appear around you.

So, Green weapons should be added as well as rare skin golds. I think that very rare weapons such as Crystallines, tormented and elemental swords should have individual unlocks rather than the generic green ones.

In games such as Dungeon Siege, when the player reached level 50, having a two-handed weapon that dealt 150-250 damage was not uncommon. Therefore, if Guild Wars 2 will have an increase in level capacity, it would make sense that the weapon damage becomes equally increased.

it stated plainly in simple to understand language that it would unlock some nice no advantage thing in GW2.

while waiting you and friends can look at it.

you misunderstand me: I guess it should be more like 'I thought that putting ANY weapon in the HoM would do something"

I didn't expect us to have choose from a tiny selection of weapons to put in. Surely if you were to have a monument to you built today then no one would say "Sorry you had a flat, we can't give you any credit for that. Only people with mansions get their house recognised." Even the meekest of GW players should be able to put in their nooby green albeit to recieve smaller rewards in GW2.

I was expecting weapons to be sorted into groups, Perhaps:
Perfect non-rare skins
Perfect rare skins
Greens
Relics (destroyer and tormented)

Having a weapon from a group would give you an unlock, the rarer weapons providing more prestigious upgrades. You can't expect them to have a unique unlock for every weapon (although if they only do destroyer weapons then they might).

They were only examples

Well, seeing as it's 'non advantage' then it'll have to be an emote/aura/disguise kinda thing. What I said were only examples I thought up to show how I thought you'd unlock the prestige upgrades.

And no, I very much doubt I'll ever get a destroyer weapon. I can't even afford the crafting price let alone the materials.
